Week 1

CeeLee Will NOT Swim
I’m Giving ‘Er All She’s Got, Cap’n!

I’m gonna do what they say (hope) can’t be done…

I am exactly 7 days into NaNoWriMo and as of today, November 7, my word count stands at (official drum roll please) 4882 . I’m tempted to say, that much like my age, numbers don’t mean a damn thing. Ah, but when the numbers in question dictate my fate, or rather, how cold I’m going to be come December 1st, they suddenly gain a lot more importance. Funny how that works. Or maybe it’s just that I’m camera shy when it comes to photo ops to be posted on Facebook and including that of the giggling merrily (he’s evil just like me) son, a bathing suit, water wings, a pool temperature registering between make me scream for mercy and oh wow that’s gonna stop your heart°, and… me…I’m  finding that as a goal incentives go, this one ranks up there!

I’ve got a long way to go and a short time to get there…

Most kids, if told their mother has accepted some sort of a challenge would her biggest cheerleader. Yeah. Not my son. He’s cheering me on, most definitely, right into the pool. He’s banking on me not making the goal of 50,000 words in 30 days. He’s gleefully informed me that he has told all his classmates and knowing him like I do, he’ll have informed his entire school about his mother’s impending dip with destiny before this is said and done. My significant other, though not as vocal about it, I do believe is hoping for the very same result. He still has his nose out of joint following an innocent little joke my son and I played on him recently. and knowing him like I do, he’ll have informed all his coworkers if he hasn’t already. I may have quite an audience if I don’t get this done.

I love getting comments. It's as close to being famous as I'll ever get.
